This option lets you select the rhythmic cycle or Theka as it is called in Indian Classical Music for a particular Tala. The choices vary from instrument to instrument. On clicking the Cycle drop-down box a list of choices like Tintala, Ektala, Rupak, Qawwali etc are displayed. The bols for the selected cycle are displayed in the Sequence view of the Visual Section of Rhythm sub-pane.
