Tanpura is an instrument that plays a continuous harmonic drone that acts as a point of reference for Indian classical musicians. It acts as a supporting device during the creation and rendition of Indian classical musical compostions. The drone of the Tanpura consists of one low pitch note and the rest are high pitch notes. The number of notes in the drone depend on the number of strings of the Tanpura.
